With 20 million francs in the bank, young and vivacious widow Hanna Glawari is the toast of Europe, especially the cash-strapped country of Pontevedro, which has made her an honored guest. What follows is a gloriously giddy carousel of humour, heart and romance as Hanna is besieged by suitors in this glamorous staging of Franz Lehar's glittering masterpiece from Opera Australia!
Europe, long ago - widow Hanna Glawari is resisting the attempts of Baron Zeta, the Grand Duchy, to force her into marriage with a potential suitor, therefore keeping her newly gained 20 million francs in the economy. Throwing every more glitzy party and balls for Hanna, he settles on Danilo, a fine citizen of Pontevedro. But Danilo and Hanna have a history: he won't marry her for her money and she won't budge until she hears three all-important words spill from his lips.
