Celebrating Joan Sutherland

Sydney Opera House plays host to a stupendous celebration of The Voice of the Century, marking what would have been the 100th birthday of iconic coloratura soprano - and the one whom the theatre is named after - Joan Sutherland! Conductor Speranza Scappucci makes her debut with Opera Australia, to lead this thrilling celebration of Australia’s greatest ever opera star and one of the world’s greatest ever sopranos, featuring a program of selections taken from some of her most famous roles.

Backed by the Opera Australia Orchestra and Chorus, the event will see celebrated modern day star Australian soprano Jessica Pratt rising to the challenge of filling Joan Sutherland’s shoes, joined by renowned tenor Kang Wang, baritone Dalibor Jenis and mezzo-soprano Caitlin Hulcup.
